About the Provider

Andrew Y. Lee, MD, is an attending otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, with locations in Brandywine and Waldorf. He treats all conditions of the ears, nose, and throat, ranging from sinus and allergy-related disorders, to hearing loss, obstructive sleep apnea, voice disorders, and head and neck cancers. Dr. Lee specializes in treating disorders of the head and neck using a combination of open, endoscopic, and microscopic surgical techniques to provide the most appropriate and least invasive option. His clinical interests include sinus and allergy disorders, sleep surgery, salivary gland disorders, and thyroid and parathyroid disease.

Dr. Lee received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed residency training at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a member of the American Rhinologic Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology.

During his residency, Dr. Lee received the Leo M. Davidoff Society Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students. Dr. Lee is passionate about improving education and the way information is transmitted, for both medical students and patients. He has filled many teaching roles throughout his academic career, including teaching assistant, tutor, and instructor, and his research interests have heavily focused on optimizing education for medical students in training. This philosophy also applies to patients. Just as any treatment should be tailored to the specific needs of each patient, physicians must also take care to communicate clearly and effectively so that each patient fully understands their diagnosis and treatment options.

In his free time, Dr. Lee enjoys watching and playing sports, traveling, finding and trying amazing restaurants, and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Philosophy of Care
“As an otolaryngologist, I play a unique role in a patient’s care—I’m both a physician and a surgeon. As a physician, I value building lasting relationships with my patients, where we can openly discuss medical issues and work together to develop an individualized treatment plan that suits their specific treatment needs and goals. As a surgeon, I’m specialty trained to perform the most up-to-date minimally invasive procedures that reduce recovery time and pain for the patient. I take every precaution and treat my patients as if they were a member of my own family.
