Frederick C. Finelli, MD, JD, joined MedStar Montgomery in Fall 2012 as the vice president for medical affairs. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Finelli is a board-certified general surgeon and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He also holds bar memberships in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and Colorado. Dr. Finelli's professional memberships include the American Medical Association, Medical Society of the District of Columbia, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Finelli has served in many leadership positions throughout his career, including president of the medical staff, medical director of operating rooms and associate chair for quality and safety at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He also served as chairman of the Washington, D.C., Board of Medicine, and president of the Medical Society of Washington, D.C.
