Hitesh Chawla, MD is a fellowship-trained cardiologist with the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. He is board certified in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and internal medicine.
Dr. Chawla sees patients with coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, hypertension, lipid abnormalities and heart rhythm disorders. He has a particular interest in preventive aspect of cardiology –encouraging the right balance between lifestyle modifications and therapeutics that makes patients feel better and live longer.
Embracing a patient centered approach to care, Dr. Chawla encourages his patients to be proactive about their health -- steering them towards making informed choices, and ensuring they are active participants in the decision-making process.
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Chawla plans to focus his research on preventive cardiology, coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease.
