About the Provider

Ian C. Chang, MD, is an attending cardiologist and cardiac imaging specialist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He treats general cardiology conditions with a special focus on cardiovascular care for patients with solid cancer, benign and malignant hematologic conditions, including light chain amyloidosis.

Dr. Chang specializes in cardiac imaging—employing non-invasive imaging studies like cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cardiac computed tomography (CT), and echocardiography. He also performs periprocedural and perioperative analysis for structural heart disease with these imaging modalities, including the use of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiogram.

Philosophy of Care
“I believe in developing a relationship with the patient based on mutual trust. This is the key to effective treatment. I will always provide my honest assessment and cardiovascular recommendations based on evidence, but will tailor them according to what each individual patient is facing. I listen to my patients and provide compassionate care to help them achieve their goals for cardiovascular health.”
