Dr. Karimah Ware is a licensed clinical psychologist, assistant professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Georgetown University's School of Medicine, and director of Clinical Training for the WISE Center. She has a particular interest in working with youth, whom research has indicated, as being at an increased risk for development of mental disorders. Her areas of specialty are school mental health; trauma; grief and loss; conducting various psychological assessments; facilitating individual and group therapy; providing supervision; crisis management; and teacher, psychiatric, and parent consultation. Dr. Ware, who holds a Psy.D. from the American School of Professional Psychology, has worked in settings ranging from schools to community mental health centers to psychiatric and traditional hospital settings. She has been afforded the opportunity to serve as an administrator of a public charter school in D.C. as well as serve on the board of directors of a public charter school in D.C. Dr. Ware's school service extends from 2002, having over 15 years of providing support to D.C. students, teachers, and faculty. In addition, Dr. Ware has facilitated various workshops, to include effective classroom management, trauma informed care, and parenting trainings. She successfully completed advanced, post-licensure, training at the Washington School of Psychiatry in its two-year child and adolescent psychodynamic psychotherapy training program.
