Patrick Martone, DO, is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Martone provides comprehensive cancer rehabilitation care at MedStar National Rehabilitation Network, and is involved in the Network’s Cancer Survivorship Program and Integrative Medicine Program.
Dr. Martone works to enhance a person’s quality of life and function, which is often impacted by cancer and its treatments. He commonly helps individuals with conditions such as neuropathy, fatigue, radiation-fibrosis, post-mastectomy pain, lymphedema, osteoarthritis, trismus, cognitive impairments and impaired mobility or decreased range of motion. He does this by utilizing diagnostic modalities, rehabilitation therapies, medications and procedural interventions.
Dr. Martone is passionate about utilizing integrative approaches to improve an individual’s well-being. In addition to his role as a cancer rehabilitation medicine physician, he also practices osteopathic manual medicine. Osteopathic manual medicine involves looking at a person’s neuro-musculoskeletal structure and identifying how this impacts one’s function. He uses manual therapies such as myofascial release, muscle energy, counterstrain and cranio-sacral techniques to reduce pain and restore/improve the overall function of the body.
Dr. Martone received his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his internship at Albany Medical Center. He served as chief resident during his residency at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital/MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in Cancer Rehabilitation Medicine at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital/Georgetown University Hospital.
