Stephen Stanziale, MD, is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon who is board certified in both vascular surgery and general surgery. As part of MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute, he leads the vascular surgery service at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center.
Dr. Stanziale specializes in minimally invasive endovascular therapies for carotid, renal, aortic aneurysm, lower extremity arterial and venous disorders and is skilled in traditional open surgery.
Dr. Stanziale chose vascular surgery because of the breadth of vascular diseases and the challenge of taking care of complex patients. He regards each patient with the highest priority and concern and treats every patient as he would want his family treated, while often forming life-long relationships with them. He respects patient choices and thoroughly discusses all options while balancing medical decision-making and surgical treatment.
He was a Howard Hughes Scholar at the National Institutes of Health and has published more than 25 peer reviewed medical research studies and he is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
