Judith Krones, CNM, MSN, is a faculty midwife in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She is actively involved in the teaching and clinical practice of obstetrics and gynecology from a midwifery perspective.
Prior to joining the Hospital Center, Ms. Krones worked in the District of Columbia providing midwifery services in a variety of settings including Columbia Hospital for Women, the Washington Free Clinic, Georgetown University Medical Center and the Family Health and Birth Center. She has provided full-scope midwifery services including well-woman gynecologic care, prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care as well as education and support to developing families throughout the city. Ms. Krones has also served as a clinical preceptor to midwifery and nursing students, PA and medical students as well as lay health volunteers.
Ms. Krones lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband, two teenage daughters and their two cockatiels. She loves to spend time with family and friends, felt with her long time felting group, walk in Rock Creek Park and watch movies.Training, Education and Research
Ms. Krones received her undergraduate degrees from Connecticut College and the Columbia University School of Nursing. She earned her master's degree in Midwifery from Yale University School of Nursing. Ms. Krones is board certified as a certified nurse midwife from the American College of Nurse Midwives.Honors, Awards and Society Memberships
Ms. Krones is a member of several professional organizations including ACNM, AWHONN, ARHP, and currently serves as co-president of the DC Affiliate of ACNM.Practice Focus
