Virginia (Ginny) Lee, CNM, MS, is a faculty midwife in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Prior to joining the Hospital Center, Ms. Lee worked at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She provided midwifery services and served as clinical faculty for the Ob/Gyn residency program. Ms. Lee has traveled extensively and provided full-scope midwifery care in a variety of settings including Seoul, Korea.
Training and EducationMs. Lee received her undergraduate degrees from the College of William and Mary and the University of Hawaii. She earned a certificate of nurse-midwifery from The Frontier School of Nurse-Midwifery and a master's degree in Midwifery from Philadelphia University. Ms. Lee is board certified as a CNM by the American College of Nurse Midwives.
HonorsMs. Lee was awarded "Provider of the Quarter" on several occasions by the Army Provider Level Satisfaction Survey, and consistently maintained >90% patient satisfaction during her tenure at Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital and Irwin Army Community Hospital.
Practice FocusMs. Lee believes in empowering patients and their families to make good decisions about their pregnancy, birth and transition to parenthood. By providing her patients with education and facilitating open communication, she promotes their independence and builds the foundation for a healthy and safe pregnancy. She is especially interested in the role of nutrition and exercise in women's physical and emotional health throughout their life.
Ms. Lee lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with her husband, an Army physical therapist, and teen daughter. She enjoys running, cycling and cooking. Her older daughter attends University of Virginia and visits whenever her laundry basket is full.
